Neurodivergent children and families in Butte County lack local opportunities to address their unique needs.
Being neurodivergent means having a brain that works differently from the “neurotypical” person. These differences may include social preferences, ways of learning, ways of communicating and/or ways of "being in" or perceiving the environment.
Neurodivergent folks may need non-traditional ways of addressing their mental health needs. Cloverleaf Enrichment Center is focused on providing quality, developmentally informed opportunities for neurodiverse people.

Mobile service delivery and confidential space in the community. Due to the size, rural nature, and economic challenges of Butte County residents, Cloverleaf has observed the need for mobile, confidential spaces. We have participated in several community-based outreach events, and although the community attendance is high, the opportunity for agencies to speak candidly with specific individuals or families is low due to the public nature of the events. Cloverleaf hopes to purchase a mobile unit that would allow us to provide a therapeutic space for therapy services and could also be a space used by us and other agencies at community-events to allow for confidential discussions. This may allow families to sign-up and access services on-the-spot, diminishing barriers to service delivery..

Touch is an essential component in relationships and attachments. Infant massage can be used as a nurturing and attachment promoting technique to improve attachment relationships. This can be particularly helpful for foster and adoptive parents trying to build or repair a child's ability to attach. Additionally, infant massage also offers physiological benefits for infant struggling with colic, gas and sleeping issues.
Infant massage can also lead to increased parental confidence and capacity. Parents who massage their infants report an increased ability to read the infant's cues and to feel a sense of increased nonverbal communication. This intervention can be especially important for a caregiver who has been away from the infant for an extended period of time, fathers, and depressed mothers.

Cloverleaf is actively looking for a therapeutic space that will allow children and families to feel welcome and safe. This space is inspired by Nurture House in Nashville, TN. This space will allow flexibility in how we provide care. We are looking for quality outdoor space for nature therapy and animal-assisted psychotherapy, functional indoor space for quality (therapy) playrooms, and quiet spaces for our sensory-sensitive, neurodiverse clients. We are also hoping for space that has enough room for group therapy and parent groups to provide supportive services. Receiving care in a space that looks less like an office and more like a home, may increase comfort and encourage participation from families. Creating this space is important part of trauma-sensitive care.
